Emma H. Tobin is a Peabody Award-winning visual journalist, filmmaker, producer, and science communicator based in Brooklyn, N.Y. She has an FAA Part 107 commercial drone license and has created work in 27 countries.

Tobin is drawn to stories about identity, culture, injustice, international affairs, and how people are impacted by the natural world. She recently directed a film about recovery from the historic 2020 bush fire season in Australia.

Her work has also received journalism awards from the Overseas Press Club, National Press Photographers Foundation, NLGJA, and Facebook. She has been published by CNN, New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Associated Press, PBS, LA Times, NPR, ABC, USA Today, Miami Herald, Seattle Times, Star Tribune, and Taiwan News, among others.

Emma has a master’s in visual journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as well as a B.A. from UNC-CH in environmental studies.

She is addicted to matcha and buying new plants.
